Prof. Rodney J. Lokaj, who teaches at Rome “La Sapienza”, is specialised in medieval Latin literature and early Italian. He and Daniela have devised the programme “Literary Interludes” to cater for those travellers to Italy who are eager to learn about its most-treasured and highly acclaimed, yet relatively little studied, moments in cultural history.
Sipping on an aperitif of bubbly prosecco either in front of the fire-place or on the terrace at sunset dominating the Spoleto Valley, these learned yet pleasurable symposia prove to be a delightfully stimulating interlude for one and all. The topics include:
* The Rise of the Love Lyric: from the Troubadours to Dante
* Demystifying Dante's Divine Comedy
* From Petrarch to Shakespeare: European Petrarchism under the spotlight
* Understanding Monteverdi and the Birth of Opera
* Women Poets of the Italian Renaissance
* A Renaissance Book of Manners: Castiglione and the Perfect Courtier
* Machiavelli, his Prince and the Mandrake Root
